What you need
- A computer with a current browser. Chrome or Edge give you every studio feature; Safari and Firefox are fine for listening.
- A microphone and headphones. A USB microphone is plenty to start. Wear headphones whenever you monitor your own voice, or you will hear feedback.
- Audio you have the rights to. Your voice, your own recordings, and music or jingles you are licensed to broadcast. Playing other stations or commercial tracks without a licence is not allowed.
- Somewhere to stream or post. A live platform that accepts an RTMP stream, or social apps where you publish recorded clips.
1. Plan your format and schedule
Decide what the show is about, who it is for and how long each episode runs. A simple running order (intro, two or three segments, a sign-off) makes it much easier to sound confident. Pick a regular day and time and stick to it: listeners come back for consistency.
2. Get your voice right
Connect your microphone and set your levels before anything else. In OBEINSON FREQUENCY X this happens in the Voice Control Center: choose your microphone, press Connect and watch the meters move as you speak. A voice preset such as Broadcast or Podcast adds noise gating, compression and presence in one click, and Bypass lets you compare it with your raw microphone.
3. Build your sound
Jingles, stingers and sound effects make a show feel produced. Load your own audio onto soundboard pads (one-shot, loop or hold) so you can fire them on cue, and keep a short intro and outro ready. Only use sounds you have the right to broadcast.
4. Record a pilot first
Before your first live show, record a short take and listen back on headphones and on a phone speaker. Fix anything that sounds too quiet, too loud or too harsh. The take recorder can trim your recording and save it as a WAV file.
5. Go live
When you are ready, send your show to your streaming platform. The Live Studio combines decks, carts, jingles and your microphone, can relay to external platforms over RTMP, and ON AIR automation can run scheduled programming hands-free. Do a short private test stream first to check sound and connection.
6. Share clips to grow your audience
Most new listeners find a show through short clips. Cut the best 30–60 seconds of each episode into vertical video for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts or TikTok, with a caption that says when the next show airs. The app can turn a recorded take into a 1080 × 1920 vertical video ready to post.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Monitoring your microphone through speakers instead of headphones.
- Skipping a sound check and discovering problems live.
- Broadcasting music or other stations you are not licensed to use.
- An irregular schedule that makes it hard for listeners to come back.
For every control mentioned here, see the OBEINSON FREQUENCY X user manual.
